Chief Jim Stedman is a 30 year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department, and
retired as a Battalion Chief, where he was assigned to Battalion 1 in the
principle downtown business district of the City of Chicago. He is an experienced leader in fire
department management and structure, operational techniques, fire prevention
activities, emergency medical services management, organizational behavior,
administrative efficiency, and all aspects of fire department and
EMS operations. Chief Stedman holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from
Governor’s State University in Illinois, a Bachelors Degree in Fire Service
Administration from Southern Illinois University, and graduated from the
Executive Fire Officer (EFO) program at the National Fire Academy. Chief Stedman remains intimately involved in
fire service administration and development throughout the State of
Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois
Office of the State Fire Marshall’s Steering Committee for fire leadership
certification, assessing current objectives, recommending curriculum changes
and developing administrative programs. Chief Stedman also develops curriculum and delivers programs for seven
colleges and universities in the States of Illinois and Pennsylvania.
