Emergency Preparedness Assessments (EPA)

Emergency Preparedness Assessments (EPA)

The On-Site Emergency Preparedness Assessment (EPA) is a unique evaluation process designed to provide a comprehensive analysis of a facility’s disaster preparedness programs and emergency management contingencies.  Our team of professionals with extensive experience and certifications in fire protection, life-safety code enforcement, disaster planning and emergency management conduct this detailed assessment.

The EPA is a multi-disciplinary assessment program that utilizes the following processes to provide a complete evaluation of a facility’s state of readiness as well as compliance with required and recommended practices pertaining to disaster planning and emergency management programs:
·       Document analysis
·       Inventory review
·       Human resources assessment (individual and group interviews)
·       Physical plant survey

While most facilities focus on immediate and common threats like fire and severe weather, a great majority of operations fail to adequately prepare for all potential perils and do not utilize a standard emergency management model to appropriately respond to crisis and disaster situations.  The EPA will evaluate a facility’s ability to respond to “All Hazards” and its utilization of nationally recognized programs like the Incident Command System (ICS) as promoted by the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

The EPA is a systematic process that will give organizational leadership an unbiased and objective evaluation of a property’s disaster planning and emergency management:
·       Strengths
·       Vulnerabilities
·       Opportunities for Improvement

Full review and implementation of the recommendations provided by the EPA can help a facility develop and sustains plans and programs that can potentially save lives, avert costly business interruption, avoid litigation and maintain continuity of operations before, during and after a crisis or disaster situation.
